EMPOWERING SELF-DIRECTION BY SUPPORTING INDIVIDUALS AND FAMILIES TO MANAGE MEDICAID FUNDS WITH TRANSPARENCY, ACCURACY, AND COMPLIANCE
Financial Management Services (FMS) in Utah are a critical component of participant-directed Medicaid waiver programs, allowing individuals and families to manage their own budgets, hire caregivers, and oversee services. FMS providers act as fiscal intermediaries to ensure funds are used appropriately and in compliance with federal and state guidelines.
FMS is a required support in participant-directed models under Utah's HCBS Waivers and is administered by the Division of Services for People with Disabilities (DSPD).
