DELIVERING 24-HOUR SKILLED NURSING CARE TO INDIVIDUALS WITH COMPLEX MEDICAL NEEDS IN A REGULATED, SUPPORTIVE ENVIRONMENT

Nursing Facilities (NFs) in Utah provide continuous skilled nursing, rehabilitation, and personal care services for individuals who require ongoing medical supervision and assistance with activities of daily living. These facilities support individuals with significant health conditions that cannot be managed safely in a home or community setting.

Nursing Facility care is covered under Utah Medicaid’s State Plan and may also be used as a temporary setting for individuals transitioning into the community through waiver programs like the New Choices Waiver (NCW). Oversight is provided by the Utah Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) through the Bureau of Health Facility Licensing, Certification, and Resident Assessment.
