SUPPORTING INDEPENDENT LIVING THROUGH REMOTE SUPERVISION AND SAFETY TECHNOLOGY FOR INDIVIDUALS WITH DISABILITIES OR CHRONIC NEEDS

Electronic Monitoring Services in West Virginia are designed to enhance the safety and autonomy of Medicaid waiver participants through the use of remote supervision and assistive technology. These services support individuals who can live independently with occasional oversight and are especially valuable for individuals with cognitive, developmental, or behavioral challenges. This service is covered under the Intellectual/Developmental Disabilities (I/DD) Waiver, and in some cases, under the Traumatic Brain Injury Waiver (TBIW). Oversight is provided by the West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources (WVDHHR) and the Bureau for Medical Services (BMS).
